About Heating Oil Tanks
Heating oil tanks store the kerosene that runs your oil-fired boiler or range cooker. Every tank we sell is bunded – a tank within a tank – so the outer skin catches the oil if the inner tank ever fails.
The range runs from 650 litre slimline tanks for smaller homes up to 20,000 litre steel tanks for farms, schools and commercial buildings, in plastic and steel, from Tuffa, Atlantis, Carbery and Harlequin.
Plastic or steel?
- Plastic bunded tanks are the usual choice for homes. They won't rust, need very little maintenance and are lighter to deliver and position.
- Steel bunded tanks are stronger and harder to tamper with, which makes them popular for larger capacities, commercial sites and anywhere oil theft is a concern.
Before you order
- Measure your space – every product page lists the tank's length, width and height, and you can filter the range by size.
- Check how close the tank will be to buildings and boundaries. Tanks within 1.8 metres of a building or 760mm of a boundary usually need fire protection.
- Plan a solid, level base that extends at least 300mm beyond the tank on every side.
